Lionhead Pedigree Jr. Doe

The Lionhead rabbit’s origins began in Belgium.  They are a mix between a Swiss Fox Rabbit and a Netherland Dwarf.  The amazing outcome is a genetic mutation which causes the wool around the head and the flanks to grow resembling a mane.

Their head mounts high and they have a compact body which should not exceed 3 1/2 lbs. and ears between 2-3 inches in length.

The Lionhead rabbit’s origins began in Belgium.  They are a mix between a Swiss Fox Rabbit and a Netherland Dwarf.  The amazing outcome is a genetic mutation which causes the wool around the head and the flanks to grow resembling a mane.  In 2014, the ARBA officially accepted the breed.

Their head mounts high and they have a compact body which should not exceed 3 1/2 lbs. and ears between 2-3 inches in length.

Lionhead rabbits have a lot of personality.  Of course that comes out when their human family spends time letting them out of their cage or enclosure to explore and build relationships of trust for a lasting bond.

Diet should be mainly hay at about 70%. We make sure there is plenty to pick from. We use Timothy Hay. The rest of the diet should consist of pellets and rabbit safe fruits and veggies.
